Patty's Heart Children's HomePatty's Heart Children's Home is located in western Kenya. Founded in 2011 by Pastors Ben and Jane Amwayi, the facility is home to 60+ children as well as providing an emergency refuge for children. Open Word's founder, Reverend Sondra, has sent numerous teams of volunteers over the years with facilities construction and educational training for the children.
Learn more at PattysHeartKenya.org HIBA Sponsorship Open Word Ministries has a support program for impoverished Kenyan pastors-- the "Hiba Fund." Hiba is the Swahili word for "gift given in love." National pastors can more effectively reach and evangelize the people in their countries. God powerfully uses missionaries from other countries to minister, but national pastors can dedicate 100% of their time to evangelism, discipleship, and church planting. They don't have to learn a language or raise consistent monthly support. 
Abigail's Hope
Abigail's Hope is now located in Nairobi, Kenya. Founded in the United States in 2020, our mission is to support women and children who are experiencing domestic violence by providing guidance, counseling, and encouragement. Since relocating to Kenya, we have expanded our vision and hope to provide safe housing in the future for women and children living in abusive homes, while continuing to offer counseling and emotional support. Recently, a generous church donated funds that enabled us to purchase two commercial sewing machines. Our prayer is that single women will be able to use their sewing talents to create hygiene kits and clothing for sale. This initiative will provide a source of income for the women while also helping to support the ongoing ministry of Abigail's Hope. We would greatly appreciate your prayers for wisdom and guidance as we work toward building housing opportunities and developing job-skills training programs that will empower women to achieve greater independence and stability. In May 2026, Open Word Ministries took a team of more than 20 members to Mombasa, Kenya, for a four-day outreach that included an eye clinic, school ministry, and pastors’ and leaders’ conferences. During the trip, the team served approximately 1,400 people through the eye clinic and distributed 1,367 pairs of eyeglasses, helping many individuals improve their vision and quality of life. The ministry also donated New Testaments and distributed more than 800 copies throughout the community. Many of the recipients were from Muslim backgrounds, providing a meaningful opportunity to share God's Word. Abigail’s Hope Ministries conducted a sewing and health education program for local women. More than 30 women participated in training that taught them how to sew hygiene kits and provided valuable health information. |
