Open Word Ministries Executive Director Sondra L. Spotts committed her life to the Lord in the spring of 1977, when she was reminded of a commitment she made nine years earlier to give herself full-time to the work of the Lord. In the ensuing years she has served the body of Christ in various capacities — church administrator, worship leader, adult education and Bible study director and teacher, prayer and altar ministry director, women’s ministry coordinator, guest preacher, mentor, food bank coordinator, prayer coordinator for inner-city outreaches, nursing home ministry, facilitator of monthly worship and prophetic meetings, and Christian school teacher. She also conducts trainings in altar ministry, prophecy, and leadership.
She has also coordinated several mission trips, including Kenya, Mozambique, and inner-city Florida and participated in missions trips to India and Kenya.
An ordained pastor under the auspices of Bethesda Pastors Fellowship, her heart for Open Word Ministries is to recognize the divine, grace gifts and abilities in the body of Christ and train and encourage believers to minister in those gifts; to teach and mentor believers to walk in the fullness of all that God has called them to be; to passionately pursue the Lord’s purposes for this generation; to provide oversight for ministries and individuals in the form of accountability, mentoring, or affiliation; to act as an apostolic and missions sponsoring organization; and to partner with pastors and pastoral networks world-wide, encouraging, strengthening, and comforting them according to 1 Corinthians 14:3.

Teaching and training the saints for the work of the ministry
Ephesians 4:11-16, NIV
It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.
Encouraging believers to recognize and minister out of their giftings
2 Chronicles 35:2, NIV
He appointed the priests to their duties and encouraged them in the service of the LORD's temple.
